Ingredients (for 40 meatballs)
- MEATBALLS
- 1 lb ground beef (455 g)
- 1 lb ground pork (455 g)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (50 g)
- ½ cup onion, finely minced (75 g)
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped (10 g)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- kosher salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- MARINARA SAUCE
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ⅓ cup tomato paste (75 g)
- 2 cups tomato sauce (520 g)
- grated parmesan cheese, to serve
- Preparation
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a medium-size bowl mix together the beef, pork, bread crumbs, onion, parsley, garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper until just combined. Take a walnut size of the meat mixture and roll into a ball. Repeat with remaining meat and transfer to an oiled rack on a sheet tray. Bake meatballs for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Set aside. Add a little oil to a pan on medium-high heat and cook the onions and garlic until they are deeply caramelized. Add in the oregano, parsley, basil, red pepper flakes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce. Stir the mixture and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes. Add the meatballs and coat them with the sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, poke with toothpicks, and serve! Enjoy!
Delicious and saucy meatball marinara cooked in a slow cooker!
INGREDIENTS
- 3 (14.5 ounce) cans italian stewed tomatoes
- 1 (8 ounce) tomato sauce
- 4 T tomato paste
- ½ t powdered garlic
- ½ t italian seasoning
- ½ t thyme
- ½ t oregano
- ¼ t sugar
- ½ t lemon juice
- 2 pounds precooked meatballs (I used Italian meatballs)
Place italian stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, powdered garlic, italian seasoning, thyme, oregano, sugar and lemon juice in a blender. Blend until the sauce is smooth and ingredients are combined. In your crockpot, place meatballs on the bottom. Pour the marinara sauce on top of the meatballs. Cook on high for 4 hours and low for about 5-6 until meatballs are heated through. Serve over some hot pasta and enjoy. 🙂

Spaghetti and Meatballs in Marinara Sauce with authentic Italian flavors and an easy homemade recipe that’s hearty and comforting for the whole family!
Ingredients
- Marinara Sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1-2 tbsp mixed fresh herbs including basil, thyme and oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 14- oz can diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- Meatballs
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 2 garlic cloves mined
- 1 tbsp minced onion
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Other
- 12 oz spaghetti noodles
- Basil for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
For the marinara sauce
In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil and add the chopped onions. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the onions soften, then add the garlic and cook for another minute. Add the fresh herbs and salt/pepper to taste; then add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste and water and mix well. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, while you form the meatballs. In a large bowl using a fork, combine all of the meatball ingredients. Gently mix with your fork to blend all the ingredients well, without over mixing. Use a cookie scoop, or measure about 2 tablespoons each, to create about 10 meatballs. Form them with your hands if necessary. Set on a plate or pan. While the sauce is simmering, place all the meatballs in the saucepan and cook in the marinara with the saucepan covered for 10-12 minutes per side. Serve the meatballs and marinara sauce over cooked spaghetti noodles and garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese, if you desire.
